Phil & Vickie Bishop workshop

The North Platte Woodcarvers hosted a 3 day Phil & Vickie Bishop workshop in February of 2001. A variety of projects were offered to carve to include animal and human caricature figures. Emphasis was put on giving enough instruction to finish projects in the 3 days seminar.

Each student was allowed to chose a roughout from a selection of 25 to 30 different projects. Individual instruction was given on a rotating basis to each student which pretty well kept Phil from taking any breaks or stretching his creaky back. In between individual instruction Vickie was kept hopping with questions from the group. The afternoons were probably the worst for Vickie because our brains would tend to start shutting down and we would not remember all the pointers Phil had given us. Most of the students left with a finished carving and the Bishops were willing to stay as long as it took to finish up. Again weather played a part in our schedule, a couple of potential students did not make it because of road conditions. The Bishops were very accommodating and if you have not taken a class with them you are missing out on a great experience. For more information see their homepage at Bishops Woodcarving.
