In 1998 the North Platte Woodcarvers decorated a tree with around 60 ornaments. The tree went for $325 at auction which tied for the top selling tree. Make A Wish was the benefiting organization.
In 1999 the club again participated in the Christmas tree auction. This year United Way was the benefactor. Each member was urged to carve ornaments to be donated to this event. This year bidders and spectators were down and our contribution only brought in $200.
In 2000 the format for the tree auction changed to just wreaths and did not work out with our planned ornament contribution. The club has contacted Make A Wish again to try to find a way we could donate carvings for a fund raising for their cause.
